In 2024, the McNamara family, the current Innkeepers of The Guilford Bed & Breakfast, relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, to fulfill a lifelong dream of running a historic B&B. John, Lisa, their son Jack, and their loyal Dachshund, Peanut, are committed to ensuring your stay at our charming establishment is both enjoyable and memorable.
The award-winning Guilford Bed & Breakfast, originally built in 1902 as a private residence by David Campbell, was gifted to his daughter Louise and her husband, Ernest Genthner, as a wedding present. For over four decades, this architectural gem has enchanted thousands of adventure seekers and B&B enthusiasts worldwide. Perched on a hilltop in the historic mill town of Guilford, Maine, The Guilford Bed & Breakfast enjoys an ideal location in the heart of the Maine Highlands. This central position allows our guests to immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring beauty and wonders of Maine.
Stepping into our establishment, guests are transported back in time, experiencing the classic elegance and charming craftsmanship of a bygone era. Each morning, they are delighted with a delectable, freshly prepared, local, and hot breakfast, setting the stage for a wonderful day. In the afternoon, guests can unwind in our beautiful sitting room, sip afternoon tea, or indulge in a glass of wine while browsing our extensive library, which boasts many books older than the very house itself. Afterward, they can retire comfortably in one of our four vintage-style guest rooms, each with its unique charm.
The historic common spaces at The Guilford Bed & Breakfast offer a variety of opportunities for relaxation and creativity. Guests can find solace in the quiet corners, engrossed in writing their great American novel, or curl up with a blanket and a book in front of the cozy fireplace in the library.
