the Guilford

Bed & Breakfast

The award-winning Guilford Bed & Breakfast was originally built as a private residence by David Campbell in 1902 as a wedding present to his daughter Louise and her husband, Ernest Genthner. For more than 40 years, the architectural beauty of the Genthner House has been enjoyed by thousands as a destination for adventure seekers and B&B lovers worldwide. Nestled on a hilltop in the historic mill town of Guilford, Maine, The Guilford Bed & Breakfast is centrally located in the Maine Highlands, allowing our guests to enjoy the many wonders and beauty of Maine. Shared Facilities

Guilford Bed & Breakfast

Our Colonial Revival style home was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 20, 2023, under the historic name Ernest and Louise Genthner House (#SG100009364).

Guests step inside, experience the classic elegance and charming craftsmanship of a bygone era, and wake up each morning to our fresh, local, hot breakfast. You can sip afternoon tea in our beautiful sitting room or enjoy a glass of wine in our library stacked high with books - many older than the house, before retiring comfortably in one of four vintage-style guest rooms. Guests can enjoy the historic common spaces to focus on writing their great American novel or grab a blanket and a book and get cozy in front of the fireplace in the library.

In 2024, the current Innkeepers, the McNamara family, relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, to fulfill a lifelong dream of running a historic B&B. John and Lisa, along with their son, Jack, and faithful Dachshund, Peanut, strive to ensure your stay at The Guilford Bed & Breakfast is enjoyable and memorable.
