The award-winning Guilford Bed & Breakfast was originally built as a private residence by David Campbell in 1902 as a wedding present to his daughter Louise and her husband, Ernest Genthner. For more than 40 years, the architectural beauty of the Genthner House has been enjoyed by thousands as a destination for adventure seekers and B&B lovers worldwide. Nestled on a hilltop in the historic mill town of Guilford, Maine, The Guilford Bed & Breakfast is centrally located in the Maine Highlands, allowing our guests to enjoy the many wonders and beauty of Maine. Our Colonial Revival style home was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 20, 2023, under the historic name Ernest and Louise Genthner House (#SG100009364).

Guests step inside, experience the classic elegance and charming craftsmanship of a bygone era, and wake up each morning to our fresh, local, hot breakfast. You can sip afternoon tea in our beautiful sitting room or enjoy a glass of wine in our library stacked high with books - many older than the house, before retiring comfortably in one of four vintage-style guest rooms. Guests can enjoy the historic common spaces to focus on writing their great American novel or grab a blanket and a book and get cozy in front of the fireplace in the library.

In 2024, the current Innkeepers, the McNamara family, relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, to fulfill a lifelong dream of running a historic B&B. John and Lisa, along with their son, Jack, and faithful Dachshund, Peanut, strive to ensure your stay at The Guilford Bed & Breakfast is enjoyable and memorable.
