The beautiful Piscataquis River, covering 65 miles from Blanchard to Howland, runs through the middle of Guilford and sits below the historic Low Bridge, named after Moses Guilford Low, the first child born in Guilford. In any season, Low Bridge offers a lovely view of the natural beauty of Maine.


There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails, including access to the Appalachian Trail and more than 200 waterfalls in the region for hikers of all levels.

As Maine’s largest and most majestic lake and the largest mountain lake in the eastern United States, Moosehead Lake serves as the backdrop for incredible scenic recreational attractions including Mt. Katahdin, Mt. Kineo, the Appalachian Trail, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, and so much more.


Thirty minutes Northwest of The Guilford Bed & Breakfast, guests can enjoy endless activities at Moosehead Lake,. This region includes Lily Bay State Park, where moose outnumber people three to one.

The vastly popular Moosehead trail scenic route begins in Guilford, Maine, and continues to Jackman, heading north and then west. Along the way, visit Guilford Memorial River Walk, Breakneck Ridge Farm, Spotted Cat Winery, antique stores, and more.

Peaks Kenny State Park

On the shores of Sebec Lake, Peaks Kenny State Park is perfect for day visitors who wish to enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and picnicking. The 839-acre park is located six miles north of Dover-Foxcroft on the South Cove of Sebec Lake. 

Piscataquis heritage

A deep appreciation for furry and feathered friends is embedded in the Piscataquis heritage. Plentiful forests provide natural habitats for the black bear, moose, deer, grouse, wild turkey, and many smaller species of game.
